Matapang Beach Park

Nestled in the Tumon Bay, Matapang Beach is a unique and picturesque spot that boasts a sandy shoreline extending into the water, free of any rocks or corals. Its shallow waters make it an ideal destination for families with young children, who can safely splash around in the calm and clear sea. Visitors can also enjoy the nearby zoo, adding an extra touch of excitement to their beach day. The sea in this part of Guam is tranquil, with no strong currents or waves, allowing for a serene and relaxing experience. The water's crystal-clear quality reflects a stunning emerald-green hue, creating a mesmerizing sight. Matapang Beach is a small yet well-maintained area, offering a few holiday houses, picnic spots, shower rooms, and toilets. For those who love to explore the underwater world, Matapang Beach is an excellent spot for snorkeling. The colorful fish and stunning coral reefs are easily visible and unafraid of human presence. The beach is a popular spot for canoes, which frequently arrive or depart from the shore. Many locals and tourists alike flock to Matapang Beach to witness the breathtaking sunset, making it a must-visit destination in Guam.

Upon the recommendation of local celebrity Lybia Chun, I ventured to a serene beach that was refreshingly uncrowded. Although finding the entrance by car proved to be a bit of a challenge, once I arrived, I discovered that the parking lot was conveniently located for easy access to the beach. For those who prefer to park elsewhere, a pedestrian path is available near the closed zoo. The water was delightfully calm and warm, and while there was little coral to be seen, it made for an ideal swimming spot due to the lack of strong currents and the presence of a lifeguard on duty. Overall, I am grateful for the tip and would like to extend my gratitude with a heartfelt Si Yu'os Ma'åse'!

Matapang Beach Park is a great spot to escape with your loved ones. The beach is tidy and equipped with restroom and shower amenities.

Matapang beach is a decent public beach, but it does have its downsides. Pollution and drunken behavior are major concerns here, as well as the lack of available parking due to hotels taking up spots that don't belong to them. Additionally, there's a peculiar zoo on the premises that seems to have been neglected by both the health department and DPW, as it emits an unpleasant odor.

The beach adjacent to our hotel is truly delightful. It offers a perfect blend of sunshine and refreshing water, making it an ideal spot to unwind and relax. Moreover, there are two complimentary showers available all day long, ensuring that you remain fresh and comfortable throughout your stay.
