The so-called free city beach, which is more of a bay, offers nothing but a mediocre experience. The water is blue, but that is the only redeeming quality. The descent into the water is shallow and unimpressive, and there are no changing rooms available. The only saving grace is the nearby bars and restaurants, but even those are nothing to write home about. The promenade is lackluster and provides little entertainment. The only thing worth seeing is the Old Town towering over the beach, but even that is not worth the trip. And if you do happen to find yourself in Pizzo, don't waste your money on the overhyped Tartufo di Pizzo ice cream at Dante's. One serving will set you back 5€, which is far too much for something so underwhelming.
