What a hoot this beach is! We ventured to this sandy spot on a day when the sky was feeling a bit moody, but it still had a certain charm.
We had a great time visiting Seaside, Oregon, which is always a fun place to go to the beach. During our four-night stay at the Duffy house on 8th avenue, we enjoyed walking around the area, which was made easy by its proximity to the north promenade. Although the weather was mostly good, there were a couple of days when it rained and one particularly windy day. Despite the weather, we managed to explore the beach, the aquarium, several restaurants, the carousel mall, and a couple of toy stores. We also took a few trips to Cannon Beach. Whether it's raining or sunny, there are plenty of things to do and see in Seaside.
This beach turned out to be cooler than I expected, with good-sized waves that attract many surfers. There are five trail paths to explore, offering beautiful views of the beach below. However, parking can be a bit tricky due to the popularity among surfers, so it's best to visit early in the morning or on weekdays. The day use area has picnic tables, making it a great spot for a picnic. I plan to return on a quiet weekday to enjoy a cup of coffee at the Truck bed. I highly recommend this beach, and if you're lucky, you might snag a parking spot close to the beach.
Tolvana Beach State Park, situated in Cannon Beach, is a stunning park that boasts of Haystack Rock, which is home to Puffins during the summer months. Additionally, the area is dotted with various excellent restaurants.
We embarked on a hike from Ecola State Park and while the trail was a bit rough in some areas, we found it to be well worth the effort to reach the beach. The round trip hike took us around an hour and 40 minutes, and according to All Trails, it is considered to be of moderate difficulty. It's best to visit during low tide, as this will give you the opportunity to discover the sea anemones and starfish. Upon reaching the beach, take a left and head towards the two large haystacks. The majority of the starfish can be found near the right haystack. This beach is truly stunning and relatively secluded. We arrived early at 8 am and had the entire beach to ourselves until around 9:30. Just be aware that it can be quite chilly in the morning.
This stunning beach is an absolute delight! As someone hailing from Oregon, I have had the pleasure of visiting this paradise for the second time. The vast expanse of the beach provides ample space for leisurely walks and picnics, while certain areas even allow for driving. With its breathtaking scenery and serene atmosphere, this beach is truly a must-visit destination.
