This secluded beach is a true gem, boasting a range of amenities including a car park, restroom facilities, a restaurant and a shop. While the beach itself may not be sandy, the fine shingles lend a unique charm to the area. I would recommend wearing wet shoes to fully enjoy the experience. Despite the unconventional terrain, the beach is absolutely stunning and we had the best day ever with the kids! The water is crystal-clear and inviting, and the presence of lifeguards ensures a safe and worry-free visit. This is truly a place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the surroundings.
We were motivated to visit because we have our dog, Harry, and many beaches nowadays prohibit dogs, which I find puzzling. Why not just separate them? There is plenty of parking available and easy access, as well as restrooms, a beach cafΓ©, and a designated naturist area. To be honest, I always prefer soft sand, but this beach has pretty coarse shingle, which is still beautiful. During the last week of August, it felt like there was plenty of space. The sea was, of course, cold but invigorating. However, the rough shingle may not be ideal for young children. Would I go again? Probably not if there is a sandy beach closer, but it was a lovely couple of hours.
This charming beach is an ideal spot for families, with its gentle slope making it a safe haven for all. There are two delightful pubs offering delicious food, and the opportunity for paddle boarding is also available. For those in need of a quick snack or refreshing ice cream, there are a couple of kiosks on hand. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a thrilling ride on go-karts or cool off at the small water park.

The beach is peaceful and not crowded. There are no public restrooms or stores. The closest pub iis a 1-mile walk along the SW Coastal path or a quick 5-minute drive away. The beach is made of shingle and gently slopes towards the sand. After rough seas, there may be seaweed present. Fishing is allowed, although our group of fishermen didn't see many fish. There are plenty of cuttlefish remains on the beach for your pet budgies. There is a small car park next to a residents-only parking area. If you can make it there at sunrise, it's definitely worth it. Take a walk to the abandoned village of Hallsands, but be aware that it's not suitable for those who have difficulty walking steadily. It's worth visiting to see the consequences of ignoring the warnings of locals and witnessing how nature takes over.
