The setting is highly intriguing, and upon stepping out of the vehicle, one may question if they have made an error in choosing this destination. Delfzijl is a Dutch industrial harbor town. From the pavilion beach area, your eyes wander over the marshy wetlands towards the German Friesen Islands, which are only separated by the Wattenmeer or marsh wetlands. The fish and fries we enjoyed at hotel Eems were among the finest we have had in a long while. A leisurely stroll along the beach, promenade, and seaport is quite pleasant. It is oddly charming to see families, joggers, and cyclists amidst the backdrop of the deserted port. The atmosphere was serene and tranquil.
