Kaihalulu Beach

During my Hawaiian adventure, I stumbled upon a hidden gem of a beach. The seclusion of this spot was unparalleled, with hardly any other beachgoers in sight. Aptly named for its red sand, this beach was a stunning sight to behold. The water was crystal clear and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a refreshing swim. The only way to access this beach is by taking the Road to Hana, and while there is no designated parking area, a brief hike down to the shore is well worth the effort. Don't miss out on the chance to visit this breathtaking beach.

Wow, this beach has definitely made it to my top 5 list of all time. When it comes to getting there, I highly recommend avoiding Google maps and instead, heading as close as possible to the end of Uakea Road. Once you park on the edge, keep an eye out for the trail. However, be aware that the walk can be quite challenging, so make sure to wear sensible shoes and bring enough adults to accompany any little ones. Once you reach the beach, you'll notice the small red gravel that covers the shore. However, as you step into the water, the texture becomes much finer. One of the highlights of this beach is the incredible pool that lies behind a rock wall. It's perfect for swimming and even jumping into! During my visit, there were around 20 people sharing the beach with us, including a nudist couple. While I wasn't particularly interested in seeing them in their birthday suits, it added a unique element to the experience.

This beach is secluded and can only be accessed by a steep hiking trail that runs alongside private property. A clear warning about the dangers of the trail is posted at the beginning, making it a spot that is mostly known to locals and not crowded with tourists. This is a good thing as it helps preserve the natural beauty of the area. The contrast between the red and turquoise water creates a breathtaking view that is truly out of this world. During high tide or heavy rainfall, the water level can rise up, leaving water marks on the side of the cliff. When I visited, I was the only person on the beach as my partner stayed back on the cliff to take a video for Instagram. Although it was a little scary to be alone in the cove surrounded by the mesmerizing red cliffs, it was definitely worth it. It's important to note that it can get dark quickly here, so it's best not to venture out after sunset.

This beach is truly a sight to behold with its stunning beauty, however, it may not be the ideal spot for those seeking a peaceful swim due to the rough waves. Nonetheless, the sand is a delightful sensation to feel as it slips through your fingers. Contrary to what others may say, the path leading to the beach is not as steep as it appears. It's a great spot to spend 30 minutes to an hour soaking up the beauty of the surroundings.

This charming little beach is a peaceful and secluded spot that exudes natural beauty. During our visit, we were pleasantly surprised to find only a handful of people there. Despite the challenge of finding a parking spot, we decided to take a leisurely stroll to the beach to enjoy its serene ambiance. However, the path leading to the beach can be narrow and slippery at times, so it's crucial to watch your step and take it slow in certain sections.
