Growing up in Guilford and now residing in Branford, I may be biased, but I truly believe that Guilford is one of the most breathtaking places on earth, and I've traveled far and wide. Although I hadn't visited Jacobs Beach since the early 90's, my recent return three years ago revealed that Guilford has done a phenomenal job upgrading the beach. It's now an absolute stunner. Unlike its rougher edges of the past, Guilford Park and Rec have managed to preserve the beach's charm and character while making it much nicer. The beach area itself is now impeccably groomed, boasting gorgeous sand that's perfect for shell collecting with the kids. There are also well-maintained bathrooms, refreshing outdoor showers, plenty of grassy areas, fun playground equipment, ample parking, and even fresh juice and lemonade for sale. The Good Humour ice cream truck still makes stops, and kayaks are now available for rent. Additionally, there are covered areas to escape the sun and a mini boardwalk to stroll along. Overall, Jacobs Beach is simply delightful.
