Balcary Bay Beach

Beautiful setting. The proprietors are delightful, but the rest of the staff can be inconsistent - it's not pleasant to be greeted with a yawn! The vegetarian breakfast portion is noticeably smaller than the meat options, yet they are priced the same. Exercise caution when it comes to parking - I was unexpectedly hit with a fine months after my stay, despite diligently following the detailed registration process for my vehicle. The staff were kind enough to assist in overturning the charge, but who wants to deal with unnecessary stress?

Spontaneous reservation for us and it exceeded our expectations. Beautiful room with ample space and a view of the ocean. The cuisine was delightful and the team was exceptional, particularly Molly who took care of us throughout our visit... a truly warm and welcoming individual. A fantastic conclusion to our brief getaway. We will certainly return. 🙂

Just popped in for a cup of coffee after spending time at the stunning beach. The coffee and freshly baked cakes were top-notch. The team was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. I am eager to book a stay there.

During my 3-night stay at the hotel, I was absolutely delighted! The hotel boasts exceptional decor featuring a mix of local and international art, making it a truly captivating place in itself. The hotel staff are welcoming and accommodating. Just step outside, and you'll be greeted by the breathtaking beauty of the Solway Coast, offering a plethora of interesting places to explore, scenic walks, and various activities all within a short drive. I highly suggest taking the walk recommended in the room information booklet, but exercise caution with children and pets as there are a few risky spots along the cliff top. The prices for food and drinks are a bit on the higher side (averaging £9 per drink for 2 bottled beers and 2 glasses of wine). While the dinner menu is somewhat limited, the dishes are well-prepared and nicely presented. Vegetarian options are a bit scarce, and I was disappointed by the use of packaged ham in a ham and cheese sandwich, which I found to be of poor value. However, breakfast was enjoyable. My room was spotless, organized, and secure, with a comfortable bed. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel as a base for exploring the Solway Coast or simply for a relaxing weekend getaway.
