Westward beach

We love Westward Ho! Lovely beach, loads of rock pools for the kids. We've made some amazing memories. Beautiful apartment at the Latritude 51, with great views and very spacious!

Just as you'd expect the Devon coastline to be, this beach is truly beautiful. The carpark costs 8£ for the whole day, you can come/leave as ypu please.. the road that leads from the gates to the carpadk goes through a gold course, which has sheep and horses grazing (it gives a new forest feeling). The information centre is great for kids! Fun, educational, and it's free! There's also a toy libary, so you can borrow or donate beach toys. The toilets are extremely clean and the cafe is fairly priced. There are food/drinks vans in the carpark. Also, lifeguards are present on the beach. The only unfortunate thing was the lack of bins. I saw 2 different families leave rubbish outside their cars before driving off.

Great beach, everything from rock pools to building sand castles. Beach is long and beautiful for long walks. Lots of surfing and kites, some extreme. Points to remember, keep an eye on the tide, no point going to the beach if there’s a high tide. If going into the sea, check for the life guards and flags. If taken a dog, the left hand side of the beach is closed to dogs during the summer. Plenty of parking on the burrows, during the summer you can pay for a day or week pass. Westward Ho! is a beach geared up to cater for every tourist's needs. With seaside shops, toilets and a range of food outlets, Westward Ho! is a popular family beach. Made up of a long sandy beach backed by a pebble ridge with Northam Burrows Country Park accessible at one end this beach offers the best of both sand rock pools and nature. RNLI Lifeguard service is available from May to September and the beach is popular with windsurfers surfers and swimmers. Dogs are permitted from October to April on the whole beach and all year round at the Northam Burrows end. There is ample car parking and disabled parking close to the beach. The wonderful surf that runs on to Westward Ho! draws surfers from miles around and with designated surfing areas the beach caters for every activity. The surf is also home to wild sea bass attracting anglers from all over the country. Equipment for bathing surfing and angling is readily available from local outlets.

Beautiful beach. So clean and tidy! When the tide is out you can walk for what feels like miles! The dog friendly part is really helpful too. Our dog loved it! The views are amazing on a clear day.
