As soon as I set foot on the shores near Split Apple Rock, I was immediately enchanted by its natural beauty. Split rock is stunning, and the caves and beach are equally breathtaking. Just be cautious of jellyfish while swimming.

The location is absolutely beautiful and stunning. Make sure to bring a picnic and check the tide, but don't miss this spot if you're in the Nelson/Kaiteriteri region. There is a short brisk walk up and down, but it's easily manageable and takes less than 10 minutes each way. You don't need tickets and there is plenty of parking space available on the side of the road, even on public holidays with great weather.

We had an incredible time swimming to the rock! Just a heads up, there is no parking available at the beach itself. You'll need to park at the top and make your way down. The beach is quite small, so if the tide is high, there might not be much room to relax. However, it would be absolutely fantastic to kayak to the beach, especially since there are cliffs and caves nearby to explore.

For the first 45 minutes, it was just us, and then another couple arrived. The beach wasn't crowded at all during the winter, and the weather was absolutely stunning. It's a truly beautiful spot for a picnic lunch.
