Hongo beach

This beach is truly enchanting! It offers sightings of whales, birds, reptiles, and many other fascinating creatures. The meals served here are of top-notch quality, equivalent to a 5-star experience. Our hostess, Jodi, went above and beyond to make us feel completely at home. We are already making plans to come back again!

My husband and I decided to book this trip as a pre-elopement honeymoon, and it turned out to be the perfect getaway! The cabana we stayed in was absolutely stunning and had everything we needed. The property itself was like a slice of paradise, tucked away in a secluded area, just as we had hoped. The private beach was beautiful, and we even got to watch whales and explore nature trails. The sunsets were incredibly romantic, beyond anything we could have imagined. We stayed for nearly a week, and we truly made the most of our time there. We have been on a few trips together, but this one was by far the most enjoyable. We are already excited to plan our next trip!

The property is spotless and filled with thoughtful details - chairs positioned to capture breathtaking views with binoculars readily available, cozy couches and hammocks for relaxation and reading, and a complete set of chairs, cooler, and umbrella for a perfect beach setup. We also took advantage of Carlos's remarkable culinary skills, which showcased local ingredients and herbs from their garden. The entire experience was simply enchanting. During our trip, we learned a few things: it's not necessary to rent a car! There are transportation options in Lo de Marcos and arranging taxis is easy. Don't forget to bring your hiking shoes! The bungalow and palapa are wonderful places to unwind, but the property also offers fantastic trails. We highly recommend having Jodi and Carlos prepare a few meals for you. We are so grateful we took advantage of that opportunity! Lastly, make sure to explore the surrounding areas and Lo de Marcos. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the local markets and beach restaurants in town. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Jodi and Carlos!

My husband and I just got back from our stay at Mar al Cielo and we've already booked another trip for next year. We're very familiar with the surrounding villages and have many friends in the area, so we spent the beginning of our trip driving around, visiting our friends, and dining at our favorite restaurants. During the middle of our stay, we decided to try out some of the amenities on the property. First, we tried the jungle room service which we ordered from a local restaurant and Raul, the caretaker, brought it to us. By the way, Raul is amazing. He was incredibly skilled at cleaning and maintenance, always friendly with a smile, and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. After our successful room service experience, we opted to stay in and enjoy a meal prepared by the owners, Carlos and Jodi, and served by them as well. It turned out to be the best dining experience of our trip, and we consider ourselves to be food connoisseurs. Carlos treated us to local delicacies, like using zucchini blossoms in a quesadilla as an appetizer. The fish was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked, and we also tried the steak and shrimp, which were all delicious. In fact, we ended up dining in every night for the rest of our trip. There's nothing better than enjoying perfectly prepared food while overlooking the ocean at sunset. We'll definitely be eating at home a lot more when we return. Carlos and Jodi, the owners, are the most incredible hosts you could imagine. They're never around unless you need them to be, and they're kind, honest, and always willing to help. They take excellent care of the property. Jodi also provided us with helpful suggestions and ideas for things to do, although it was hard to tear ourselves away from the stunning views. As you can see from the pictures, the property is mostly outdoors. The bedroom is enclosed with screens, but everything else is outside. This was perfect for us, as we enjoyed the exercise of climbing the hill to get to the bedroom and made use of the outdoor tub every night. No matter where you are on the property, the view is absolutely breathtaking. If you're a fan of hiking trails and outdoor living, this place is ideal. The property is gated and very secluded, which adds to its perfection. This was the most romantic getaway my husband and I have ever had. We can't wait to go back. Thank you, Jodi, Carlos, and Raul!
