Fihalhohi Island Resort

The island and resort are absolutely fantastic. The staff is incredibly friendly. The beaches are stunning and crystal-clear, teeming with various types of fish. The restaurant serves delicious food with a wide range of options. The resort is immaculately clean and adorned with lush trees and palm trees. It truly feels like paradise.

This is our third time here, the first being in 2012, and not much has changed except for the reef. It used to be full of life, beautiful, and vibrant, but now it's mostly dead. There are still some fish, but not as many. You have to go far out to see any living corals. The food is the same as before, good but nothing special. It mostly consists of Indian and Maldivian cuisine. There's really nothing to complain about, but nothing outstanding either. The service is good, but not exceptional. Any little change incurs an additional charge. If we need a different room, we can do it, but it costs an extra $50 per night. The spa offers great massages, and I highly recommend it. There are visitors from Switzerland, Germany, and many people from Russia (as it's one of the few places they can travel to due to the war). However, this will be our last visit. We want to explore a place that is less worn down.

We visited this beach in 2019, right before the COVID pandemic caused the world to shut down. It was wonderful to discover an island that has preserved its Maldivian heritage instead of transforming into a generic modern resort, making it feel like a truly tropical destination. The rooms were roomy and the food offered a wide variety, with plenty to satisfy different tastes. While we did notice signs of beach erosion and a few exposed sandbags, the main beaches were in good condition. The diving was also enjoyable, although the coral reef appeared slightly damaged. Overall, this island is definitely worth a visit if you're seeking a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway.

There was a lack of communication or payment made for two people. The estimated market price for that should be around 5-6 USD. The wooden barriers were destroyed by insects, posing a danger. Furthermore, there were no rails on the stairs. The beach lacked a shop and ferries, and everything was overpriced. There was no possibility to cancel and leave. The prices were often 10 times higher than in the capital city, Male. For example, a drink cost $12, a 375ml bottle of red wine was also $12, a 200ml Coca Cola was $5, and a cup of coffee was $5 (only instant available). Additionally, a mask and pipe for snorkeling cost $109, while it was only $10-$12 in Male. The place was filthy, expensive, and felt like a private jail with no means of transportation at market prices. It seemed like you were forced to stay and keep paying. My advice is to stay away from this beach.

I spent 300 USD for a 2-night stay in a comfortable room. Room: The rooms are quite nice, but the queen size bed is actually two beds pushed together, which makes it uncomfortable. The bathroom is good and includes a bathtub. Beach: There is a private beach right in front of your room! The lagoon is stunning and has a beautiful turquoise color. The water sports activities are reasonably priced and enjoyable. Activities: They offer a wide range of indoor sports activities, and the pool table is of high quality. However, there is no swimming pool. The diving facilities are good, although they are on the more expensive side.
