Francavilla Al Mare

We visited this lido quite often during the summer. The children's area is very limited, and the establishment is somewhat run-down and poorly maintained. The wooden walkway boards are a hazard, as they can cause splinters or even bump your head if they're not properly secured to the ground. The sunbeds definitely have an outdated 80s look to them. The restaurant is decent, considering the options they offer. However, the pricing seems to vary depending on the day, much like the sea. We spoke to some people who were near our umbrella and they shared the same impression. The beach itself is quite wide, possibly the widest part of the beach in Francavilla. The service staff isn't the friendliest. There are much more appealing stretches of coastline further south, with better quality and more elegant management. This lido isn't terrible, but it's not one that I would personally recommend.

The beach had a peaceful ocean and we enjoyed a delightful lunch. The owners of the restaurant went above and beyond to make sure their customers felt relaxed. We had a chance to try the Pecorino wine, which had a fruity and refreshing taste (it's best to order a small quantity at a time to keep it from getting warm). The beach was comfortable and the ocean water was pleasantly warm. I highly recommend this place, especially considering the reasonable prices.

I would advise against visiting this beach if you're not Italian. I wouldn't even give it one star, but unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to try the food. My rating is solely based on the poor service. The owner's responses to negative reviews give you a glimpse of the unpleasant attitude of the staff running this place. During a long car drive, we decided to stop here for a drink and a snack because of the beautiful beach setting. We found an empty table and asked for a menu, which we received. However, after waiting for a long time at the counter to order food, the person behind the counter was extremely unhelpful and rude. They were speaking Italian with others in the bar and laughing, which made us feel unwelcome. As a British tourist who doesn't speak Italian, I don't believe that justifies such a lack of hospitality. We had already decided to leave with our family of five, unhappy with the treatment we received. But then, the same person approached our table and claimed it was reserved for others, even though there was no sign, cutlery, or any indication of a reservation. Perhaps next time, they should refrain from handing out menus and explain the situation with the table when people attempt to sit there, instead of being so impolite.

Accesso in spiaggia "libera" negato per tutti gli animali, indipendentemente dalla taglia, anche ai cagnolini, persino se tenuti al guinzaglio. Paese inospitale, forse che queste bestiole debbano essere lasciate al caldo a casa oppure abbandonati in autostrada ? Ridicolo che si autodefinisca "Città amica". Amica di chi, amica dei nemici degli animali ?

Vengo a Francavilla da molti anni, temo che questo sarà purtroppo l'ultimo, anche se sono proprietario di un appartamento che sto pensando seriamente di vendere. A parte la scomodità della gestione dei rifiuti (in nome dell'ambiente si accetterebbe anche di dover conservare in casa 5-6 diverse pattumiere... vabbè...lo farei pure... per rispettare l'ambiente), il costo è esorbitante: pago 220 euro l'anno per avere 15 giorni di cumuli di rifiuti in casa...per non parlare poi degli ultimi giorni in cui si soggiorna e la raccolta differenziata non prevede il ritiro del rifiuto che hai, costringendoti a riportarlo nella tua città...dopo aver pagato 220 euro l'anno... Ultima chicca, veramente indegna persino di commenti: da quest'anno devi lasciare il tuo cane a casa da solo quando vai al mare! Divieto assoluto di portarlo nelle spiagge libere, neppure tenendolo al guinzaglio !!! Devo scegliere: o non vado in spiaggia, o faccio un lungo percorso per raggiungere uno dei pochi stabilimenti che accetta animali (casa mia è a 20 metri dal mare, ma devo fare più di mezzo chilometro per andare al più vicino stabilimento "tollerante"!!!) oppure porti il tuo cane dalla città a Francavilla per relegarlo in casa da solo!!!! Credo che l'unica' alternativa valida sia oramai un'altra: non venire più a Francavilla...
