Gamat Bay

It's difficult to rate this hidden gem of a beach, but I'll share my experience nonetheless. I had the most incredible snorkeling adventure here, surpassing any other I've had before. The journey to the beach is an adventure in itself, accessible by scooter and a short walk down to the shore. Upon arrival, a friendly local will greet you and offer refreshing drinks to enhance your visit. To fully enjoy the underwater world, I suggest wearing shoes to navigate the coral. The marine life is truly awe-inspiring, with a plethora of fish and underwater canyons to explore. I was even fortunate enough to witness multiple sea turtles at once. This beach is truly a paradise for nature lovers and should be cherished as such.

The beach is an absolute gem, offering tranquility and seclusion. It is an ideal spot for snorkeling enthusiasts, with an abundance of marine life such as colorful fish, stunning corals, and graceful turtles. Additionally, there is a charming little restaurant that serves delectable food at a reasonable price. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, and they even offer snorkeling gear rentals. If you visit this beach, be sure to try the fried bananas with cheese and honey on top - the flavor is unforgettable!

The optimal means of reaching this beach is by connecting with a nearby snorkeling guide. They will transport you by boat to four different locations, one of which is the serene Gamat Bay. Its waters possess the most transparent and tranquil waves when compared to Manta Bay and Crystal Bay. Schools of tiny fish will even swim up to you. The beauty of this beach is that you won't have to exert yourself while swimming, as the current will carry you along at a leisurely pace. Prior to embarking on your journey, it is advisable to consult with your tour guide to ensure the weather and waves are ideal.

Although challenging to locate and access, the beach is an absolute gem. Its stunning beauty and secluded nature make it a rare find. We navigated our way through the rugged terrain, perched atop cliffs and ventured into the lush jungle to reach this hidden paradise. However, the effort was well worth it as we spent a serene and delightful day by the shore.

Gamat beach is an incredible snorkeling destination with crystal clear waters, vibrant coral reefs, and a plethora of colorful fish species. If you happen to travel by motorbike, follow the sign pointing towards Gamat beach after riding past the Google location for approximately 50 meters. Once you see a narrow dirt road, park your motorbike to the side and walk for 10 minutes down to the beach. The best time to visit is during low tide, as it can be a bit challenging to access the beach at high tide. For an unforgettable snorkeling experience, swim away from the beach and explore the coral reefs on the left side of the beach. However, be cautious not to venture too far beyond the snorkeling boats. The current can be a bit strong, so it's not recommended for weak swimmers. If you prefer to go on a snorkeling tour, all skill levels are welcome to enjoy the stunning underwater world of Gamat beach. While most visitors opt for boat tours, you can have a unique experience by taking the scenic route. We arrived at the beach early in the morning and didn't encounter anyone else who took the same path. Best of all, there is no parking fee, so you can enjoy the beauty of Gamat beach without worrying about your wallet.
