The new operators, possibly from Berlin, have been running the place for a while now. The food and beer on tap are absolutely delicious. However, there seems to be a limited connection between the team and the customers, hopefully it's just a temporary issue.
The dog beach isn't very large and is separated from the adjacent beach by a fence. The shoreline is densely covered with reeds and other water plants. Our dog had a great time running around and enjoyed taking a dip in the lake to cool off!
This beach is a really pleasant spot to unwind. Although it gets quite crowded during hot weather, there's enough space for everyone to find their own spot, whether it's basking in the sun on the sandy shore or seeking shade under the trees on the grass. It's also well-maintained and tidy. You'll find a few kiosks where you can purchase cold beverages (including beer) and grab a bite to eat. They've even set up a special covered area specifically for grilling, making it the only place where you can grill. Despite the scorching temperatures (over 35 degrees Celsius), the lake water was incredibly refreshing and cold. While there were many people near the shore, if you swam a bit further, there was plenty of free space. Additionally, there's a bike path encircling the lake, so it's definitely worth considering a visit on two wheels.
This place had the potential to be amazing, but unfortunately, the beach is currently closed due to landslides caused by the deteriorating walls of the old coalmine that operated from 1940 to 1959. These landslides have even extended below the water surface in the northeast of the sea. However, despite the closure, there is still plenty of room available. There are also various options for dining and drinking. Additionally, you can find Langos here, which is a delicious Hungarian fried potato bread that I always look forward to enjoying at festivals. Furthermore, there are numerous pinecones scattered on the ground, perfect for tossing around, and you can even spot woodpeckers in the trees. Considering the accessibility to good food and beer, ample space with minimal noise, and the anticipation of the beach reopening in the future, I would give it a 4-star rating.
