My wife and I have fond memories of our holidays at Holywell Bay in the early 2000s, when we used to stay with our children in one of the holiday flats. So, when we were nearby recently, we decided to spend a day at the beach.
The main car park is National Trust, so as members, parking was free for the day - a bonus! It was a short walk from there to the beach.
The weather was glorious and sunny, but like most coastal places, it was rather breezy and still had a chill to it in late April.
The beach is still immaculate, but there are no facilities unless you go back to the village.
We consider Holywell Bay to be one of our favourite places in Cornwall - it's a beautiful beach with a good stretch of sand.
We'd definitely recommend it as a great place to spend the day, but make sure to bring a windbreak/beach tent and some food and drink. There is a pub/coffee shop between the beach and the car park that has a garden with seating as well.
Sadly, the Holywell Bay Store is now closed, which is a shame as the building looked so sad when we returned.
