This beach is simply average. The trek up the steep hill to get there is nothing short of exhausting and the view, while decent, is hardly worth the effort. Running up the hill is a nightmare and even the view at the top is not enough to make it bearable. Driving up the hill is marginally better, but I wouldn't recommend it either. Overall, this beach is not worth the hassle.
The beach is a great spot for snorkeling, and I had an amazing 20-minute experience with a stunning Spotted Eagle Ray. It's worth noting that the beach has public free entry, so anyone can enjoy it without any cost.
The reception here is absolutely terrible. The staff is incredibly rude and unwelcoming, so I would strongly advise against staying here unless you actually enjoy being treated poorly.
We came here with the intention of witnessing the raw and captivating beauty of this remote part of the island. The thrill of traversing the dunes to reach our destination was exhilarating, and stumbling upon the solitary yet inviting restaurant was truly remarkable. During our visit, we were the sole patrons, and Ethne kindly joined us for a chat after our meal, sharing the fascinating history of the restaurant and the surrounding area. It was a cherished encounter, accompanied by a delightful homemade meal and set against a breathtaking backdrop. The lobster sandwich with curry served on Johnny Cakes was absolutely outstanding. The level of hospitality we received perfectly matched our overall experience on the island.
