Davenport Landing Beach

This beach is undoubtedly one of my top picks. During low tides, the shoreline reveals an array of captivating discoveries. The weather was just perfect, and the beach is easily accessible. It also has convenient bathroom facilities. One of my favorite activities here is searching for unique sea glass. Although I don't have a dog, I find it delightful to see furry friends having a blast on this dog-friendly beach, just like I do.

I absolutely adore this beach. The parking is conveniently located on the side of the street, and the atmosphere is peaceful and serene. It's a fantastic spot for dog owners, with plenty of space for them to run around and play. The entire area is impeccably clean, with well-maintained toilets and garbage bins readily available. It's crucial that we all do our part to keep this stunning beach in pristine condition by not leaving any litter behind and showing respect for the environment. I arranged my visit to coincide with the low-tide, utilizing the davenport tide charts to ensure the lowest possible tide. This allowed me to explore the vast expanse of tide pools located towards the southern end of the beach. Following this, I journeyed towards the northern end, where I discovered a tunnel that was only accessible during low-tide. The entire experience was awe-inspiring, and the beach felt incredibly untamed. During my visit, I was fortunate enough to observe an abundance of sea creatures, including sea anemones, mussels, barnacles, purple sea urchins, starfish, and oystercatcher seabirds.

This exquisite beach is an absolute haven for dog lovers. The parking lot may not be expansive, but this only adds to the charm of the beach by limiting the number of visitors. The tide pools and caves are a delightful source of exploration, and the water is perfect for swimming. However, it is important to exercise caution as there are no lifeguards on duty. Parents and pet owners should keep a watchful eye on their loved ones, especially as the waves can become stronger later in the day. Lastly, it's worth noting that there is no shade available, so remember to bring along umbrellas or a canopy to stay cool.

We had a delightful weekend at the beach with fewer crowds. Although there is no designated parking lot, street parking is available, just be sure to park within the white lines. The restroom is conveniently located at the entrance of the trail leading to the beach, but unfortunately, there are no facilities for washing hands. On the left side of the trail, there are swings for added amusement. The sand on the left side of the beach is fine, while the right side is more coarse. To observe sea creatures, explore the rocks on the left side of the beach, where you'll find crabs, hermit crabs, fish, and sea anemones. The seaweed in the middle of the beach may cause the water to be a bit murky, but it's still an excellent spot for kids and surfing. Overall, it's a fantastic destination for a relaxing day at the beach.
